A lot can be said about American Traditional tattooing, and there is much literature to be found on the subject. Throughout the 1800s & 1900s, one’s rejection of status-quo could be established via bold outlines and shading imbued on their skin. Whether the ink portrayed roses, an anchor, an eagle, a boat, a woman, etc…. the most important thing was (and still is) the wearer’s personal story behind any imagery.

With each visual subject in the genre representing its own story, flared chain links in particular have always captivated Vasili. Originally drawn as weld-seams of hastily forged chains during the Industrial Revolution, the sharp points evolved to signal a menacing quality about something already so restrictive / binding.

Born from a top-view reflection of the same tattooed chain as Vasili's American Traditional, which was originally engineered to infer the existence of a sequence of unique links some years ago.

The Mirror link theorizes 2 distinct components forming the generationally tattooed chain: a dual-flared ring and a single-flared rung. These flares are purposefully sharper than the American Traditional's (but not so sharp as to cause undue bodily harm).
